Shambhavi Mishra (b.2000) is a music composer and multimedia producer passionate about developing technological projects for the creative arts. During her undergraduate education at Carnegie Mellon University, she pursued the BXA interdisciplinary program in Humanities Analytics & Music Composition. The program provided her with an integrated experience in music technology, concert management, and professional writing for data-based stories. Through her creative projects, she captured the relationships between human behavior, data, and the digital world. Through CMU's accelerated master's program, Shambhavi began her graduate education during her senior year to further her involvement at the crossroads of screen-based media, data analytics, technology, and management. She graduated in 2023 with a Master's in Entertainment Industry Management.
Shambhavi won the 2021 Hedy Lamarr Achievement Award for Emerging Leaders in Entertainment Technology and has premiered two films, "Angels of the House" and "Beautiful Utopias." She has worked with a variety of leading entertainment companies, including ICM Partners/CAA (agency), MGM EPIX (publicity), LB Entertainment (social media & film production), Hello Sunshine (kids & animation development), and NBCUniversal (TV programming DEI).
She studied composition with Professor Nancy Galbraith and sonic arts with Professor Jesse Stiles and Professor Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh. She is an alumn of The New Music School in Kingston, New Jersey, studying piano under Angela Triandafillou, Marvin Blickenstaff, and Gary Madison. Through their guidance, she has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY, and premiered over 40 original compositions.
Her pieces are influenced by a variety of world music and experimental techniques. Through her experience with Carnegie Mellon University's Exploded Ensemble, she combines various forms of media arts and electronic processing within her compositions to create an auditory and visual experience.
As an artist engaged in the arts and humanities, she approaches artistic expression with an analytical mindset and develops technological projects for the creative arts. The projects she has developed capture the human experience in the form of music and film while portraying its connectivity with the digital world.
With the rise of computational thinking and digital platforms in the humanities, music is also experiencing the same shift and the need for adaptation within a more technologically driven world. Shambhavi's artistic process is driven by discovering the relationship between music creation and data analysis of modern-day storytelling methods. The bridge between technology and music inspires her to explore how to create new music that speaks to audience experiences and is still relevant in today's technological world.

In a world where the line between the arts and data sciences is beginning to blur, her creative process stems from observing the social environment, building a narrative or experience for the audience to listen to or visualize through a musical ensemble, and adding elements of technological manipulation. For example, she uses electronic processing, prerecorded soundtracks, field recordings, lighting design, video projections, and other multimedia elements to create an immersive soundscape. While this process strays from traditional composing and performance methods, it allows audiences to develop a new relationship with music and the sound, noise, and imagery in their natural environment.
As Shambhavi continues to pursue her career, her goal as a future entertainment industry leader and artist is to provide diverse audiences with new immersive experiences through the interaction of data, technology, and multimedia storytelling.
